Overt

ADJ
done or shown openly; plain or readily apparent, not secret or hidden

from Fr. ovrir "to open"

Under the new covenant, God's glory is overt.
Though he tries to mask it, Tim's sense of style is overt.
Meredith often tries to be nonchalant, but her sentiments are generally overt.
Tim and Meredith are overt in their interest in vocabulary and defining words.
They are also overt in their nerdiness.

I wish it was a verb:

Meredith overts that she likes stripes and solid colors.
Tim overts that the burden of listening to new music is too much.

But, it isn't :(

  1. Initially, Jesus is covert concerning the confession of His deity, but during His last days He is very overt regarding both His deity and Christ-hood (resulting in His murder).
Meredith's overt love for school shows...oh wait...that's right, she hates school.
Couples overtly expressing their affection in public is annoying.
Tim and Meredith's phone bills overtly reveal how much they talk at night.
Sometimes I wish our sins weren't so overt.

  2. I really wish overt was a verb. It sounds like one! What is the process for making that change? Is there a rule book?

  3. I mean, if doable is a word, overt can certainly be a verb. It would be like this:

    Overt:
    V
to make plain or open; to reveal

  4. if only the process for word part of speech alteration was overt!!! how cruel this world is! (and ironic)
