Efficacy

Noun:  the ability to produce a desired or intended result.  This makes sense because it kind of represents "effective".

The efficacy of Christ's blood is undeniable and unequaled.
Vocab Club's efficacy in improving my vocabulary are awesome!
The efficacy of eating popcorn to improve a film is surprising.


efficacious: adj: (typically of something abstract or inanimate) successful in producing desired or intended result: effective.

A righteous man's prayers are efficacious.
My efficacious efforts to convert Meredith into a Beach Boys fan were a worthwhile.
Meredith will need the most efficacious diet pills on the market to take car of the many hot dogs and chocolate chip cookies.
