Abjure

v: to solemnly renounce (a belief or claim).

tim was excited when meredith abjured her distaste for the Beach Boys.
thrice peter denied Christ, but thankfully he didn't abjure Him.
through beatings and scourging paul never abjured Christ.
paul abjured his former life after seeing Christ on the road to Damascus.
i was 21 when i finally abjured all "Greatest Hits Collections".

  1. The Israelites were quick to abjure Moses and return to slavery in Egypt. Often we are too.
    Hannah abjured her son, and gave him to the Lord.
    In Eccl., Solomon advises to to abjure the world because it holds no promise for us.
    Meredith will not abjure her new belief that pineapple & red sweatpants can make one happy.
    Meredith hope that Tim will not abjure chocolate eggs, even though they make him sick.

  2. Jesus adjures us not to abjure Him. Meredith, let's not do it. We gotta keep it up. He knows we can. I know you can. I know that I can (i'm not certain I will).
